A driver on the eastbound 60 Freeway near South El Monte was hit by shattered glass early Saturday after someone in another vehicle fired a shotgun in a car-to-car shooting, authorities said.
The victim “thought he might have cut someone off in a dark colored SUV,” said a deputy at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Temple station.
The shooting shortly after midnight was believed to have been a road-rage incident, authorities said. The victim’s injuries were minor.
The incident was the second car-to-car shooting on the 60 Freeway in the last week. Chaffey College football player Sheldon Martin was traveling westbound on the freeway with four other men near Jurupa Valley on Aug. 16 when they were shot at by an unknown person in a dark vehicle, KCAL9 reported. Martin was fatally injured and two others were wounded.
