Placentia man stabbed in driveway after argument

Placentia authorities arrested a 19-year-old transient Tuesday on charges that he stabbed the father of an underage girl with whom he had or wanted to have a relationship.

Erick Nolasco was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Placentia Lt. Eric Point said. Nolasco went to the girl’s home in the 300 block of Twilight Street about 6:15 a.m. and got into an argument with her father in the driveway, authorities said.

The family had told Nolasco not to come to the home, Point said. Police say that the argument escalated and that Nolasco stabbed the father once in the stomach with a knife.

The father sustained a significant injury and was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center. He was listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery, Point said.

Nolasco was arrested about 12:30 p.m. at a home in the 300 block of Monterey Circle.

Point said he didn’t know the full extent of the relationship between the juvenile girl and Nolasco. He declined to identify the victim.

“There was some desire on the part of the suspect to have a relationship,” Point said, “or there was some type of relationship that was unacceptable to the family.”

Detectives are looking for witnesses, Point said. Anyone with information is asked to call (714) 993-8146.
