Los Angeles police have released photographs of the two men they believe are responsible for gunning down a 7-Eleven store clerk in Highland Park over the weekend.

Gonzalo Perez, 38, was shot and killed during a robbery attempt Sunday night at the shop in the 5100 block of North Figueroa Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The incident began after 10 p.m. and “when officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound,” according to an LAPD statement.

He was taken to the hospital, where died.

Police said the suspects posed as customers when they entered the 7-Eleven.

“The victim walked to the register to assist the suspects. Suspect 1 jumped over the counter and produced a handgun, demanding money from the cash register,” police said.

Perez apparently tried to flee but was shot by one of the men. The two suspects, described as between 25 and 30 years old, then fled.
