Whittier standoff ends after 6 hours with surrender
An armed man surrendered early Friday morning after barricading himself inside a Whittier home for nearly six hours, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials.
Adam William Samarin, 23, locked himself inside a home in the 9200 block of Laurel Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Thursday after deputies arrived, responding to a domestic disturbance call, sheriff’s officials said.
Samarin stayed inside until deputies deployed chemicals into the home around 3:10 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials. A spokeswoman would not say what kind of chemicals were used.
Samarin was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries. He is expected to be booked on charges later Friday.
No deputies were hurt during the standoff. Samarin was alone inside the home, sheriff’s officials said.
