Readers React: Transport oil by pipeline, not rail

Share

One would have thought that Jayni Foley Hein — executive director of UC Berkeley’s Center for Law, Energy and the Environment — after discussing all the problems associated with transporting crude oil by rail, would have at least mentioned if not discussed an alternative such as building pipelines to transport the oil. Using pipelines to carry the oil, though requiring an initial huge capital outlay, is much cheaper and safer in the long run.
