Dear SOS: I’m hoping you can get the recipe for the cabbage soup served at the Lyons English Grill in Palm Springs.

Dear Mrs. Digange: The Grill’s chef, Ernie Carino, was flattered that you asked. Canned tomato juice, cream of tomato soup and ground beef make this recipe so easy, a can’t-cook cook will have no trouble getting the soup just right.
Saute ground beef in large pot over medium-high heat until browned, 5 minutes. Add onion and cook until translucent, 5 minutes. Add broth, tomato juice, tomato soup, garlic powder, sugar, cabbage and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer until cabbage is very tender, about 20 to 30 minutes.
