Boys’ basketball: Cesar Reyes scores 25 points in season debut for Poly
Junior guard Cesar Reyes of Sun Valley Poly scored 25 points in a 76-47 win over Granite Hills on Tuesday in a tournament game at Blair. Sal Gonzalez had 14 points and Brian Sanchez added 10 assists.
West Ranch defeated Viewpoint, 68-65. Ryan Beddeo had 18 points and seven assists. Christian Ware-Berry added 17 points.
Rancho Cucamonga opened with a 77-52 win over San Jacinto. Victor Joseph had 20 points and six assists. Daylan Lawrence added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
In the Mission Viejo tournament, Justin Simon and Riley Schaeffer had 22 points apiece in Temecula Valley’s 66-62 win over Mission Viejo. Chandler Hutchison led the Diablos with 30 points. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated San Clemente, 70-60. Cameron Glassen finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Orange Lutheran defeated Long Beach Wilson, 61-39. Rogers Printup had 15 points.
In the Westchester tournament, Gardena Serra defeated Beverly Hills, 66-53. Ron Freeman scored 23 points and Tavrion Dawson had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Cantwell-Sacred Heart opened with a 60-47 win over Long Beach Jordan. E.J. Mejia scored 16 points, making four three-pointers. Balsa Dragovic had 13 rebounds. Joey Covarrrubias had 14 points. St. Francis defeated Renaissance, 45-38, with Kyle Leufroy scoring 19 points. St. Anthony defeated Los Osos, 46-43. Sylmar defeated Leuzinger, 61-56. Devon Abner had 31 points for Leuzinger. Devenir Duruisseau scored 22 points for Sylmar.
In the St. Monica tournament, Newbury Park defeated University, 54-50. Tre Weston led Uni with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Tyler Cartaino had 28 points for the Panthers. Oak Park defeated Hamilton, 54-30. Michael Alvarez and Cole Micek had 22 points apiece. Newbury Park plays Oak Park on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for the championship.
In the Burbank tournament, Village Christian defeated Glendale, 75-33. Bennie Boatwright, a transfer from Alemany, scored 20 points and had 13 rebounds.
In the Santa Monica tournament, Chaminade defeated Crossroads, 60-42. Jack Williams had 12 points and 16 rebounds. Trevor Stanback had 11 points. Fairfax defeated Culver City, 72-40. Armani Nichols had 13 points. Olisamaeka Nwachie had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
In the Simi Valley tournament, Sierra Canyon came away with an 84-60 win over Burbank Burroughs.
