Baseball: Chris May is showing the two-sport athlete is alive at Crespi

Share

Crespi football Coach Troy Thomas has always been a big fan of multiple sport athletes. Three of the players he coached during his days at Crespi and Servite that are now in the NFL _ Sione Fua, Matt Kalil and Troy Niklas _ played more than just football. Fua was also a top wrestler at Crespi, Kalil did shot put and discus at Servite and Niklas played basketball for the Friars.

So Thomas is especially proud about the development of junior Chris May, a starting defensive back who has become one of the hottest hitters for Coach Scott Muckey in baseball at Crespi.

He finished the regular season with a .390 average and added two hits on Tuesday in a 6-2 Southern Section Division 1 wild-card win over Long Beach Poly.

May had three interceptions in a game last season, two returned for touchdowns.

So if anyone wants to throw around a football during baseball practice, May will be happy to join them.
