Baseball: Former Kennedy Coach Manny Alvarado joins Sierra Canyon as assistant

Former Granada Hills Kennedy Coach Manny Alvarado has joined Sierra Canyon as an assistant baseball coach.
Alvarado, who guided Kennedy to five City Section championships, hasn’t coached since 2012. He said he has retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District after becoming embroiled in district controversy for several years.
“I wanted closure,” he said. “It’s a positive and I’m trying to move on.”
