San Fernando right-hander leads 5-2 win over Marshall

Alonzo Garcia, who has a 24-2 career record on the mound for San Fernando, made his season debut on Monday for the defending City Section Division I champions and looked better than ever. He struck out nine, walked none and allowed five hits in six innings in the Tigers’ 5-2 victory over Marshall.

Rafael Salcedo had two hits and two RBIs for San Fernando. Marshall pitcher Angel Lerma threw well but was hurt by three errors and four unearned runs.

Granada Hills Kennedy defeated Arleta, 14-1. Armando Rodriguez had a grand slam and two-run home run. He’s a junior first baseman and the younger brother of shortstop Nick Rodriguez.

Granada Hills defeated Roosevelt, 3-0. JB Garcia had two doubles and three RBIs. John Shultz threw six shutout innings.

Palisades defeated Cleveland, 4-2. Jed Moscot and Harrison Fahn each had two hits. Verdugo Hills defeated Sylmar, 3-2. Austin Obregon had two doubles.
