Baseball: San Fernando is gearing up for another title run

Share

San Fernando’s baseball team has won the City Section Division I championship two of the last three seasons at Dodger Stadium, and Coach Armando Gomez might have the team to beat again in 2014.

Pitcher Alonzo Garcia, a two-time All-City selection, is back for his senior year. He has recruiting visits set up for St. Mary’s and USC.

The Tigers could get a boost from infielder Marquis Jackson, who attended Alemany and Chatsworth this past year but didn’t play. It remains to be seen if he’ll be eligible.

Gomez’s son, Kai, an infielder, has transferred from Agoura. The Tigers also have several young players ready to contribute and will play in the Boras Classic.

Banning and Narbonne have top pitchers back and could make it to Dodger Stadium. El Camino Real and Chatsworth are re-loading with promising young pitchers.
