Boys’ basketball: Bol Bol, son of Manute Bol, transfers to Mater Dei

Southern California basketball is getting another big man just in time for the real action to begin this month.
Bol Bol, a 6-foot-11 junior and the son of former NBA center Manute Bol, has enrolled at Santa Ana Mater Dei, school officials confirmed on Tuesday.
He’ll have to pass eligibility requirements before he can play for the Monarchs.
With scholarship offers from Kansas and Creighton, among others, Bol helped his team win the Kansas 4A Divsion I championship last season.
Mater Dei is 16-1 and expected to compete with Chino Hills, Sierra Canyon and Bishop Montgomery for the Southern Section Open Division championship.
