Boys’ basketball: Gold Coast League rematches are set

Share

The semifinals of the Gold Coast League tournament are set for Tuesday night and feature rematches.

Sierra Canyon (19-3) will host Campbell Hall (17-7) in a rematch of a Jan. 20 game in which Sierra Canyon pulled out an 80-77 victory.

Brentwood (20-4) will host Windward (15-9) in a rematch of a Jan. 15 game in which the Eagles prevailed, 70-65.

There’s no reason to think that these semifinals won’t be as close. And there could be a reversal in the teams that won.

Windward is playing much better than when it faced Brentwood the first time. Brentwood made 22 free throws to Windward’s four in the previous meeting. If Windward cuts down on its fouls . . .

Campbell Hall faces the tougher task against Sierra Canyon, but Aaron Holiday is certainly capable of a big performance. The key is for Holiday to attract double teams and get the ball to open teammates who must make the open shots.

The winners will play on Thursday night at Viewpoint in the championship game.
