Boys’ basketball: Mission League begins with Crespi hurting
- Share via
The Mission League basketball race begins this week. It’s usually filled with lots of close, exciting games. This season should be no different, but injuries have severely hurt one of the league’s expected favorites, Crespi.
The Celts have lost point guard Brandon Williams for the season because of a knee injury and their other guard, Taj Regans, hasn’t played since Dec. 5 because of undisclosed injury. He isn’t expected back until the middle of this month.
Crespi is 6-9 and plays at St. Francis on Wednesday night. The Celts can still be dangerous with the improving play of sophomore Kyle Owens.
Alemany (11-3) deserves the favorite’s role and opens on Monday night against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
A big Wednesday game has Loyola playing at Harvard-Westlake in what is always a rivalry game.
