It’s football season, but former Granada Hills Kennedy pitching standout Jon Garland will be the grand marshal at homecoming festivities on Friday night against Van Nuys.

Kennedy is beginning a year-long project of honoring distinguished alumni and will be creating an area in its quad to honor them. The school opened in 1971.

Garland graduated in 1997 and went on to become a first-round draft pick and successful pitcher in the major leagues.

He has continued to support Kennedy’s baseball team and remains visible in the community.
