Girls’ golf: Ysabel Tran of Troy wins Southern Regional

Ysabel Tran of Troy and Bethany Wu of Diamond Bar each shot five-under par 66 on Monday at the Southern Section Southern Individual Regional at Dad Miller Golf Course in Anaheim, but it was Tran emerging in first place based on a better back nine score (32 to 34).

Alyaa Abdulgany shot 67 to finish in third place. The top 36 players advance to the Southern Section individual finals on Nov. 6 at Western Hills Golf Course in Chino Hills.

In the Northern Regional at River Ridge in Oxnard, Mami Murez of Mira Costa took first place by shooting a 69. Amy Lee of Brea Olinda was second with a 71, the same as Robynn Ree of Redondo.
