Ducks’ Jonas Hiller won’t play Saturday

Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller will be held out of Saturday’s game at Colorado after saying he felt fatigued and light-headed.

A club spokesman said Friday that tests on the 28-year-old were normal, but Hiller will rest as a precaution. He is expected to return for the Ducks’ next game, at Vancouver on Wednesday.

In the meantime, the Ducks recalled goalie Timo Pielmeier from Syracuse of the American Hockey League to back up Curtis McElhinney. In 27 games for the Crunch, Pielmeier was 10-14-1 with a 3.33 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.

The Ducks’ pursuit of free-agent goalie Ray Emery for a depth spot remains on hold. General Manager Bob Murray said Friday the Ducks “aren’t the only ones” interested in Emery, who had hip surgery last April after playing with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Ducks are offering him a two-way contract and would assign him to Syracuse to play his way into shape. In that case, he would have to clear waivers before he plays. If he were to join the Ducks directly he would not be subject to waivers.

Also, center Ryan Getzlaf was cleared to practice for the first time since he was struck in the face by a puck Dec. 28 and suffered facial fractures.
