Tiger Woods rebounds but Graeme McDowell leads World Challenge

Graeme McDowell kept his foot on the gas and shot a four-under-par 68 in the third round to maintain the lead Saturday at the World Challenge in Thousand Oaks.

But Keegan Bradley kept McDowell in sight ahead of Sunday’s final round, firing a five-under 67 to remain two shots behind McDowell in second place.

Tournament host Tiger Woods and Bo Van Pelt were tied for third, five shots back, after Woods put a finishing charge on a roller-coaster round of 69 at Sherwood Country Club.

McDowell, who led after two rounds, carded a bogey-free round Saturday and stood at 13 under par after 54 holes.

McDowell won the World Challenge in 2010 in a playoff with Woods; it was McDowell’s last victory.

Woods on Saturday struggled early to save par after poor shots on several holes. He also three-putted the par-five 11th hole after reaching the green in two shots.

But Woods, a five-time winner of the World Challenge, bounced back with birdies at Nos. 14, 15 and 17.

The 18-player tournament, which benefits Woods’ charities, has a $4-million purse that includes $1 million to the winner.
