Clippers trail the Warriors at halftime, 55-42

Kobe’s mask apparently has some competition.

The CP3 clear protective facewear has arrived.

Paul, who sustained a nasal fracture Friday against San Antonio, debuted the mask during Sunday’s game against Golden State and he scored a team-high 13 points in the first half.

But it wasn’t quite enough to give the Clippers the lead as they trail the Warriors, 55-42, at halftime.

Paul began the game a bit shaky, looking out of sorts and adjusting the clear protective device often. He scored only two points in the first quarter before being subbed out at the 4:14 mark. He didn’t return until there was 30.5 seconds remaining in the quarter.

The Clippers trailed the Warriors, 28-16, entering the second quarter. They had no answer for Dorell Wright, whose 16 points matched the total offensive output of the Clippers team.

But Paul opened the second quarter strong.

At the start of the quarter, Paul was fouled on a driving layup and made the free throw for a three-point play. Paul proceeded to score six points in a row, helping the Clippers reduce their deficit to four points.

The bad news: Their run was short-lived. Behind Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh, the Warriors quickly regained a more commanding advantage.

The good news: The Clippers found a way to contain Wright, who scored only two points in the second quarter.

The Warriors outshot the Clippers in the first half, 60.5% to 35.9%. Randy Foye had 10 points and Blake Griffin added a quiet nine.

By the way, Clipper Darrell, who made headlines in late Februrary when he posted to his website that the organization had asked him to drop ‘Clipper’ from his name, was at the game cheering in his red and blue suit.

At the end of the first half, a faint Clipper Darrell chant could be heard from the crowd.

Clipper Darrell responded by blowing his fans a kiss.
