Long Beach Poly visits Narbonne in high school football
Long Beach Poly (1-1) at Harbor City Narbonne (1-0), 7 p.m. (Time Warner Cable, Channel 101, midnight): Poly fans are getting a little grumpy. They don’t think their team should ever lose, and after a close loss to Gardena Serra last week, the Jackrabbits face another tough challenge from City Section title favorite Narbonne. The Gauchos return 10 starters on defense, led by linebackers Marquis Lomax and Keishawn Bierria. Poly needs to cut down on turnovers and penalties. The pick: Narbonne.
Los Angeles Crenshaw (2-0) at Westlake Village Westlake (2-0), 7 p.m. (FS West Prep Zone): New quarterback Ajene Harris, a junior, is off to a terrific start for Crenshaw, having thrown seven touchdown passes in wins over Corona Santiago and Norco. The Cougars have a speed advantage over a Westlake team that had trouble with penalties and mental mistakes last week in a 16-13 overtime victory over Del Oro. Standout running back Dashon Hunt will need to be healthy for the Warriors to win. The pick: Westlake.
