Lane Kiffin cuts off interview in less than 30 seconds [Video]
USC football Coach Lane Kiffin doesn’t like to field questions about his players’ injuries and tells them not to discuss the topic with reporters.
The university, citing competitive reasons, even implemented a new policy this summer that media members attending practice can’t report injury-related news that they witness.
You can watch the video clip below, which was captured by a Fox Sports reporter and posted on YouTube, to see how much disdain the Trojans coach has for the media when it comes to the injury policy.
The school even revoked the credential of L.A. Daily News reporter Scott Wolfe, who had the audacity to report about knee surgery that kicker Andre Heidari underwent earlier this month. Wolfe’s credential was reinstated upon appeal.
After giving an abrupt “I don’t know” response to a question Wednesday about injured players returning to the lineup (the question, which included a specific player’s name, has been edited out), Kiffin bolted from the interview, which lasted less than 30 seconds.
“I gotta go,” is all he said when a follow-up question was asked about safety T.J. McDonald. No word yet on whether McDonald is injured.
