Everyone in the Pacific Northwest had to love the Seattle Seahawks hitting the road and posting a 23-0 shutout Sunday of the New York Giants.

Everyone, that is, except a car dealer in Federal Way, Wash.

Jet Chevrolet, located just south of Seattle, staged a promotional contest in which, if the Seahawks shut out the Giants, the dealership would award 12 randomly selected winners their share of a $420,000 jackpot — $35,000 each.

The contest was open from Wednesday through Saturday of last week, and contestants didn’t need to buy a car to enter, although buying a car earned you 100 entries.

Jim Johnson, one of the dealership’s co-owners, told ESPN’s Darren Rovell, that the company took out insurance for the contest at a cost of $7,000, and that the dealership was waiting for guidance from the insurance company about distributing the winnings.

The game was Seattle’s first shutout of the season and the first time since 1995 that the Giants had been held scoreless at home in a regular-season game.

Eli Manning had five interceptions Sunday, and the Giants didn’t run a single play in Seattle territory until seven minutes remained in the game.
