It’s official: Dallas quarterback Tony Romo has undergone back surgery and Kyle Orton will start Sunday night in a winner-take-all game against Philadelphia.

Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett announced the news Friday morning.

“We anticipate this surgery to solve the issue with his back,” Garrett told reporters, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Romo, who suffered the injury while spinning away from a tackle in Sunday’s victory at Washington, has been placed on injured reserve and is done for the season.
