Galaxy picks Andy Riemer of Georgetown in supplemental draft
The Galaxy picked midfielder Andy Riemer in the first round of Major League Soccer’s supplemental draft Tuesday.
Riemer, who turned 22 on Monday, played at Georgetown University, where he scored 21 goals in 82 games. The McLean, Va., native had nine of those goals in 2012.
Reimer was scheduled to begin training with the club later this week.
In the MLS’ “Superdraft” in Indianapolis last week, the Galaxy chose three players: forward Charlie Rugg from Boston College, defender Kofi Opare from the University of Michigan and midfielder Greg Cochrane of the University of Louisville.
The Galaxy opened preseason training camp Monday at Home Depot Center, and their season opener is March 3 against the Chicago Fire at home.
