Tiger Woods takes second-round lead at Farmers Insurance Open

LA JOLLA -- A steady rain at Torrey Pines couldn’t dampen Tiger Woods’ spirit or his golf game Friday as he jumped to the second-round lead at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Woods’ seven-under-par 65 put him at 11 under after 36 holes and gave him a three-shot lead heading to the clubhouse.

Woods held the lead over Graham DeLaet, Josh Teater and Ross Fisher, all at eight under.

Woods, who opened the day three shots back of the leaders after his first-day 68 on the South Course, shot seven under on the North Course. He enters the weekend in solid position to win this tournament for the seventh time in his career.

Phil Mickelson, who shot an even 72 on Thursday, teetered on the cut line most of Friday but currently stands at three under, one under the expected cut line.
