AT THE PLATE: Overshadowed by Adrian Gonzalez’s two home runs was Andre Ethier’s performance in the Dodgers victory over the Brewers. Ethier was three for four with two doubles. All of his hits were to the opposite field. Ethier said he continues to work with hitting coach Mark McGwire on his mental approach. “Just seeing and focusing on who will pitch that day, visualizing and seeing it, and taking that approach into that game,” said Ethier, who raised his spring average to .370.

ON THE MOUND: Hyun-Jin Ryu had his best performance of the spring, limiting the Brewers to a run and three hits over 52/3 innings. He didn’t give up any hits or runs after the first inning. Ted Lilly pitched as poorly as Ryu pitched well, as he was charged with five earned runs, five hits and two walks in two-plus innings.

EXTRA BASES: Outfield prospect Yasiel Puig got the only hit against Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill, a second-inning single to center field. Puig stole two bases that inning. Puig, who was one for two, is batting .452.

UP NEXT: vs. Arizona on Monday at 1 p.m. PDT at Camelback Ranch in Phoenix. On the air: TV: Prime Ticket. Radio: 570.
