NCAA West Regional: Arizona’s Solomon Hill is gold standard
Arizona forward Solomon Hill played high basketball at Los Angeles Fairfax High, originally committed to USC and will lead the Wildcats in Thursday’s NCAA West Regional semifinal against Ohio State.
Hill is averaging 13.3 points and 5.4 rebounds.
On Wednesday, the senior attended a post-practice news conference at Staples Center wearing a gold jersey, which is awarded to the Arizona player who performs best in practice each week.
Arizona Coach Sean Miller said it was “fitting” that Hill had the gold jersey in one of his final weeks, because he has been a role model throughout his career.
“I think he had it in the first month of his freshman year,” Miller said.
Hill will match up against Ohio State forward Deshaun Thomas, who is averaging 19.7 points a game.
“He’s a mismatch nightmare out there,” Thomas said.
