Sharks might get Adam Burish back in Game 6

SAN JOSE — With elimination at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings one loss away, the San Jose Sharks are likely to make one lineup change Sunday for Game 6 of the teams’ Western Conference semifinal playoff series.

Winger Adam Burish, who broke his right hand May 7 while blocking a shot during the Sharks’ first-round sweep of the Vancouver Canucks, might make his series debut, according to reports from the Sharks’ practice Saturday. He skated on the fourth line Saturday with Bracken Kearns and Andrew Desjardins.

Burish had no points in four games against Vancouver but was credited with six hits. So if he plays Sunday night at HP Pavilion, he won’t be there to add to the Sharks’ finesse level.

According to Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com, it’s likely Jason Demers would sit if Burish plays. Demers was in uniform in Game 5, when the Sharks dressed seven defensemen, but he barely played after he took a needless boarding penalty in the second period. The Kings won that game, 3-0, to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Sunday’s game will be aired at 5 p.m. on NBC Sports Network. Because of the early start, neither team is likely to do much during their respective morning skates at HP Pavilion. Both made the skates optional so players can conserve their energy for the game.

A seventh game, if necessary, would be played Tuesday at Staples Center at a time to be determined.
