Narbonne vs. Alemany among top high school football games

Share

Harbor City Narbonne (2-0) at Mission Hills Alemany (2-0), 7 p.m. (Fox Sports West Prep Zone): Defending City Section Division I champion Narbonne is still trying to get its offense in high gear under sophomore quarterback Roman Ale. Running back Johnell Jackson rushed for 175 yards last week to provide a lift. New Alemany quarterback Alif Grayes has passed for 501 yards but faces his most severe test against an aggressive, physical defense. The pick: Alemany.

Crenshaw (0-1) vs. Loyola (1-1) at Mission Viejo, 4:30 p.m. In another City Section vs. Southern Section clash, Crenshaw has had two weeks to prepare for the Cubs after an opening loss to Long Beach Poly. Quarterback Ajene Harris will be counted on to ignite the offense. Loyola showed improvement last week in a 38-6 victory over Lakewood. Nico Evans rushed for 153 yards. The pick: Crenshaw.

Corona Centennial (2-0) vs. Long Beach Poly (1-1) at Mission Viejo, 8 p.m. (Fox Sports West, 8:30). Poly’s highly regarded defense gets its ultimate test trying to slow down a Centennial offense that accumulated a school-record 886 total yards on Saturday against Ventura St. Bonaventure. If the Jackrabbits can’t contain running back Tre Watson (466 yards, seven touchdowns last week), it could be a long night. The pick: Centennial.
