USC women drop second in a row; UCLA gets a split in Washington

Kelsey Plum scored 21 of her 32 points in the second half, Chantel Osahor had a double-double and Washington dominated the second half in a 67-57 win over No. 25 USC on Sunday in Seattle.

Osahor had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Huskies (14-4, 5-2 Pac-12), who were 7 of 11 behind the arc, and shot 64 percent (14 of 22) in the second half.

The Trojans (14-4, 2-4) led by 10 points, 34-24, at halftime but were outscored by Plum, 21-16, until the last 75 seconds of the second half when they scored 10 points, capped by Courtney Jaco making her only three-pointer in 12 attempts.

Plum, who has scored 30 points or more in 18 games, had 11 points at the break, giving her 1,929 career points for third on the school list.

Temi Fagbenle had 19 points in the first half and finished with 25 and 14 rebounds for USC.

No. 17 UCLA 75, at Washington State 73: Monique Billings scored 19 points, Jordin Canada had 16 and the Bruins hung for the win in Pullman, Wash.

Borislava Hristova, who led the Cougars with 19 points, had two chances in the closing seconds. She missed a contested floater in the lane but the ball went out of bounds off the Bruins with 3.1 seconds left. Then her open jumper from the wing rolled over the basket and fell away as time expired.

Billings had 14 points in the first half, when UCLA (12-5, 4-2 Pac 12) opened a 42-34 lead. Hristova scored 11 points in the third quarter as the Cougars (12-6, 3-4), closed to within 58-57. Kari Korver’s three-pointer capped a 12-2 run that put UCLA ahead by 11 points, 72-61, with 6:04 left, but the Bruins missed their last six shots.

Hristova missed a three-pointer for the lead with 58 seconds left but Korver was called for an offensive foul with 25.8 seconds left.
