Celtics beat Grizzlies, 116-96, for 14th consecutive home victory

Isaiah Thomas scored 22 points, including 16 in the third quarter that helped the Boston Celtics turn a three-point deficit into a 16-point lead on the way to a 116-96 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

It was the Celtics’ 14th consecutive home victory.

The Grizzlies lost guard Mario Chalmers in the third quarter to what the team called a right foot injury. Chalmers was unable to put any weight on the leg and needed assistance off the court.

JaMychal Green had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Grizzlies. First-round draft pick Jarell Martin, who had scored eight points total this season, finished with 16. He had 15 in the first half.

Chalmers made a three-point basket at the end of the second quarter to give Memphis a 55-52. The Celtics scored the first five points of the third quarter, then went on a 14-1 run near the end of the quarter to open an 18-point lead before Vince Carter made two free throws to make it 83-67.

at Charlotte 122, New Orleans 113: Kemba Walker scored 35 points for the Hornets, who won their fifth game in a row and for the 11th time in 13 games.

It was the fourth consecutive 30-point game for Walker, who had seven assists and seven rebounds.

Anthony Davis had 40 points and 13 rebounds, and Jure Holiday scored a season-high 38 points for the Pelicans, who are 7-24 on the road this season.

Houston 118, at Philadelphia 104: James Harden scored 29 points, and Dwight Howard had 21 points and 18 rebounds to help lift the Rockets.

Ish Smith scored 21 points, and Nerlens Noel and Robert Covington each had 17 for the 76ers, who lost their 13th game in a row..

at Milwaukee 114, Miami 108: Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 24 points, Khris Middleton made four free throws in the closing seconds and the Bucks ended the Heat’s winning streak at five games.

Jabari Parker had 23 points and Middleton finished with 22.

Luol Deng had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Heat, and Hassan Whiteside had 23 points and 13 rebounds.

After Dwyane Wade scored on a fastbreak layup to cut Miami’s deficit to 110-106, Middleton made two free throws. Joe Johnson scored off a pass from Wade, but Middleton answered with two free throws.

Detroit 102, at Dallas 96: Marcus Morris scored 20 points, including two three-point baskets during a decisive fourth-quarter run, and Andre Drummond had 25 points and 17 rebounds to help lift the Pistons.

Drummond leads the NBA with 54 double-doubles.

Chandler Parsons and Dirk Nowitzki each scored 25 points for Dallas, which lost its season-high fourth game in a row.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope stole an outlet pass and drove for a layup to give the Pistons an 82-81 lead. That started a 12-2 run that included Morris’ two three-pointers, the last to put Detroit ahead, 92-83, with 5:21 to go.
