Clippers return home to face tough Spurs
The Clippers just made their long, winding road trip successful by going 4-3, and now they have to come home to face the always-tough San Antonio Spurs on Monday night at Staples Center.
Sensing that his team was worn down mentally and physically after a seven-game, 13-day trip, Clippers Coach Doc Rivers didn’t have his players practice on Sunday’s off day after they returned home from Washington, D.C. The Clippers also didn’t have a shoot-around Monday at their practice facility.
The Spurs have the third-best record in the NBA at 19-4.
They are as efficient as ever, averaging 103.3 points per game, sixth-best in the NBA.
They are making 49.4% of their field goals, second-best in the league.
They are making 40.2% of their three-pointers, third-best in the league.
And they still have their trio of Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili.
This is what the Clippers will be up against when they face the Spurs after that long trip.
“It’s a good test for us,” Blake Griffin said. “It’s good to be away for a long period of time and to come home and have to play a top-notch team, a team that always executes and plays the right way.”
