Matt Flynn heads back to his Green Bay Packers roots

What a boomerang of a few years it has been for Matt Flynn.

The former Green Bay backup quarterback has re-signed with the Packers after a series of false starts with Seattle, Oakland and Buffalo.

Flynn will back up Scott Tolzien, a promoted practice-squad player who was bumped up because of injuries to starter Aaron Rodgers and backup Seneca Wallace.

In his previous go-round with the Packers, Flynn backed up Rodgers and won a Super Bowl ring after the 2010 season. He caught the eye of other teams that season when he threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns in a Week 16 game against Detroit.

The Seahawks signed Flynn in 2012, but then drafted Russell Wilson who beat him out for the starting job. Flynn moved on to Oakland, where he was edged out by Terrelle Pryor. Then, he briefly was one of the quarterbacks to cycle through the revolving door in Buffalo.

The Packers might not be done stocking up on quarterbacks. They reportedly will work out journeyman John Skelton on Tuesday.
