Buffalo’s Zemgus Girgensons still tops NHL All-Star voting

Zemgus Girgensons of the Buffalo Sabres has received the most votes for the 2015 All-Star game with a vast majority of his votes coming from his home country of Latvia.

Hockey fans in Latvia continue to stuff the NHL All-Star ballot box for their favorite son, Zemgus Girgensons of the Buffalo Sabres.

According to the NHL, Girgensons is the top vote-getter for the 2015 All-Star game for the third straight week, with 1,089,865 votes. More than 80% of his total votes are coming from Latvia and from Sabres fans.

Four Chicago Blackhawks ranks second through fifth: Patrick Kane (586,310), Jonathan Toews (573,198), Duncan Keith (567,184) and Corey Crawford (501,259).

Voting ends on Jan. 1 and can be conducted in English, French, German, Czech, Finnish, Russian, Slovak and Swedish. The top three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender will participate as fan picks in the game, which will be played Jan. 25 in Columbus.

Current vote total are online, along with instructions on how to vote, from Latvia or elsewhere, and other information about the game.
