Baseball: Long Beach Millikan stuns Long Beach Wilson, 12-0
Wednesday’s Moore League finale at Blair Field was supposed to be a coronation for Long Beach Wilson, which was 25-4 overall, 11-0 in league and had won 12 consecutive games.
Somebody forgot to tell Long Beach Millikan, which knocked out Wilson standout pitchers Tyler Radcliffe and Josh Goldberg en route to a 12-0 victory that enabled the Rams to pull into a first-place tie with Wilson. Radcliffe gave up six runs and Goldberg was tagged for three runs. Millikan finished with 17 hits.
Junior Jacob Alcorn threw strikes and tosed a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits. Sophomore Griffin Keller had three hits and three RBIs. Jacob Hughey had three hits. Dean Duggan added two hits and two RBIs.
Millikan finishes 18-10-1 and 11-1. Afterward, Millikan and Wilson flipped a coin to decide the league’s No. 1 seed. Millikan won the coin toss.
