Senior striker Brendan Hexberg scored both of Laguna Beach’s goals, including the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute on an assist by junior Sean Koger. Senior Sam Luna got the assist on Hexberg’s other goal, which was scored in the 57th minute to tie the game at 1-1.

Sophomore Braden Ross scored an unassisted goal for Sage Hill in the 23rd minute.

Goalkeeper Erik Haug made nine saves for Laguna Beach (4-1). Sage Hill (0-3) goalkeeper Jimmy O’Hare had 12 saves.

Luis Hernandez, Christian Hoeeg and Francisco Chavez scored for Righetti, which earned the victory in its ninth game in 12 days.

The Warriors played despite grieving the death of junior midfielder Elijah Danell in the wake of a car accident Tuesday in which three others also died. A moment of silence was observed in Danell’s honor before the game.

Hernandez gave Righetti (4-3-1) a 1-0 halftime lead, while Hoegg, an exchange student from Denmark, and Chavez scored second-half goals.

Goalkeeper Stephen Hill made two saves for Culver City.

David Soltero scored what turned out to be the deciding goal for St. Bernard (3-1) in the 25th minute after a cross from Geovany Hernandez, who scored the Vikings’ first goal in the 15th minute.

Marlon Melgar assisted on visiting Monroe’s first goal and then scored what proved to be the decisive goal in the first half for the Vikings (1-0-1).

Lester Feldman scored early in the game with an assist from Melgar, who added an unassisted score just before the break. Saugus closed to within 2-1 on Carmelo Tyerranova’s penalty kick midway through the second half but that was as close as the Centurions got.
