A 20-year-old driver and one of his passengers, a 16-year-old girl, died early Saturday when their car slammed into a big rig on the 405 Freeway in Carson, authorities said.
Two other passengers, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man, were injured in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victims were heading south in a 1995 Toyota Camry about 2:15 a.m. when their car turned to the right and struck the left front side of the truck near the Avalon Boulevard exit, the CHP said.
The car swerved out of control, slammed into a metal guardrail and overturned before eventually coming to rest on all four wheels, the CHP said.
Of the surviving passengers, the young man suffered moderate injuries but the girl's were major, the CHP said.
Identities of the victims were not immediately available Saturday.
