Tustin school lockdowns lifted after suspected gunman arrested

Share

Lockdown orders for seven Tustin schools were lifted Thursday afternoon after a suspected gunman was arrested following an intensive hours-long manhunt.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was suspected of fleeing from police after an officer-involved shooting outside an apartment complex about 9 a.m. Thursday. He was taken into custody “without incident,” said Tustin Police Sgt. Andy Birozy.

Tustin Unified lifted the lockdowns shortly after 2 p.m.

The search prompted a massive search that involved heavily armored tactical vehicles, helicopters and SWAT officers. Residents were also warned to stay indoors on reports that the man was carrying some sort of sawed-off shotgun or rifle.
