Update: Dustin Penner’s back didn’t lock up when he was skating or lifting heavy objects. It happened when he leaned forward to eat pancakes and he ended up missing Saturday’s game. “I couldn’t stand erect,” Penner said Sunday morning after doing a bit more in practice. “I was like probably the third stage of evolution. My wife helped me get dressed and then I drove to the rink [in El Segundo] to hope they could do some voodoo magic to get it to open up.” Penner, for the record, called his wife’s pancakes “delicious.” Meanwhile, Kings Coach Darryl Sutter did some “mixing and matching,” moving Mike Richards back to center on the second line, from wing on the first line. Justin Williams moved up to Anze Kopitar’s line to try to give Kopitar a boost. Said Sutter: “From a numbers standpoint, [Kopitar] is probably fine, but I think there’s other parts of his game that he can be better at, that can help.”
