A couple of weeks ago, we asked you to vote for the 10 best sports movies of all time. And 9,280 ballots later, we unveil your picks.

No. 3: “Field of Dreams” (742 first-place votes, 39,347 points)

“Field of Dreams,” starring Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, Amy Madigan and Ray Liotta, is quite a polarizing film, with many people voting it No. 1, and almost as many saying “I hope ‘Field of Dreams’ doesn’t make the list” when sending in their ballots.

Costner plays Ray Kinsella, who hears a mysterious voice in his Iowa cornfield say: “If you build it, he will come.” Kinsella decides to replace half his cornfield with a baseball diamond and goes on a quest to solve the mystery of the voice (which sends him two more messages in the movie) while most of the town laughs at the idiot who tore down his cornfield to play baseball.

The ending of the film is classic, causing many people, especially men, to cry as Kinsella is reunited with, well, you’ll have to watch the movie to find out.

“Field of Dreams” was nominated for three Oscars, including best picture, and is the second Kevin Costner film in the top 5 of our list, joining No. 4 “Bull Durham.”
