LAS VEGAS -- It’s Arizona in a rout at the Pac-12 Conference basketball tournament.

That’s not a prediction for tonight’s semifinal game against UCLA. It’s based on a highly unscientific poll to determine the conference’s best fans.

The Wildcats have 60% of the fans at the tournament, judging by the gear people were wearing as they passed the Starbucks at the MGM Grand from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Friday.

The breakdown of the 176 shirts:

Arizona, 105: Either the Wildcats’ fans really love their team or they really love gambling.

UCLA, 25: How many are here to root for Coach Ben Howland and how many are here to root against him?

Oregon, 15: This may be low; add 15 Nike T-shirts for Ducks fans who are honest about who runs things.

California, nine: Folks walking around in a daze, mumbling, “We lost to Utah?” Give Berkeley the one Green Day shirt for Las Vegas Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

Colorado, seven: Add the two “Coors” shirts as fellow travelers.

Arizona State, four: Always a tough call in Vegas: Do you stand with 15? Sun Devils did; UCLA erased 15-point deficit and cashed in.

Utah, three: A trio walking around mumbling, “We beat Cal?”

Washington, three: Their team is gone, but it’s raining in Seattle, so they’re staying.

Stanford, two: A couple of students trying to win enough to pay for next year’s tuition?

Oregon State, two: Beavers fans taking a few days to bask in the glow of that 2009 College Basketball Invitational title.

Washington State, one: See Washington as reason, it’s raining and it’s Pullman.

Others receiving votes:

The Southeastern Conference, four: Kentucky (two), Mississippi (one) and Lynyrd Skynyrd (one).

The Lakers, Four: Could do well in the NCAA tournament this season … maybe.

Gonzaga, three: Zag fans who want a shot at the Pac-12 conference winner.

Harley Davidson, Two: Raider fans do represent.
