Los Angeles Times Originals Video Series Now Available on Hulu

New Entertainment, Food & Travel, Sports and Documentaries Playlists

The Los Angeles Times today announced the launch of its Los Angeles Times Originals’ short-form video series on Hulu. This is the first streaming series to be released under The Times’ new Originals banner, with which it shares a name. The videos are now available to millions of viewers on Hulu through a variety of devices including smart TVs, desktop, gaming consoles and mobile devices, as well as at latimes.com/video.

“We regard video as a vital medium for The Times’ powerful storytelling,” said Colin Crawford, Times deputy managing editor, visual journalism. “Aligning with Hulu puts our coverage in front of millions of new viewers and provides us with an opportunity to extend awareness of the unique productions we have underway and the great videos in our archives.”

The series is the latest in the broader rollout of Los Angeles Times Originals, the imprint under which The Times distinctive short and long-form video productions are created and distributed.

“Hulu’s viewers stream billions of hours of content and distributing the Los Angeles Times Originals series on their innovative platform opens exciting new possibilities,” said Jennifer Collins, Tribune Publishing’s vice president, digital development.

The initial playlists are Entertainment, Food & Travel, Sports, and Documentaries, with additional categories expected to be added. Highlights from more than 70 videos currently available include:

• “Gold 101” – Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic Jonathan Gold visits Southern California’s hottest dining spots (Food & Travel)
• “The Envelope Emmy Roundtables” – Times entertainment writers in lively discussions with TV’s biggest stars about the latest Golden Age of Television and the awards race (Entertainment)
• “Postcards From the West” – travel writer Christopher Reynolds and photographer Mark Boster search for new angles and forgotten history among iconic views in the American West (Food & Travel)
• “Made in California” – issues that impact the Golden State, including earthquakes, droughts, immigration and traffic (Documentaries)
• “Day for a King” – photojournalists Robert Gauthier and Arkasha Stevenson follow Anze Kopitar to his native Slovenia with the Stanley Cup as a young nation looking for its own identity unfolds around them (Sports)
