Prep Basketball GIRLS : Fahy Scores 28 to Lead Granada Hills in Rout

Gloria Fahy scored 28 points and had 15 rebounds to pace Granada Hills High to its first victory of the season over Verdugo Hills, 64-35,in the Valley 3-A league opener for both teams Tuesday night. Granada Hills had lost its first six games of the season.

The Highlanders outscored the Dons, 22-5, in the third period to put the game away.

Westridge 37, Flintridge 20

Flintridge Prep dropped its second game in the Liberty League by losing to Westridge Prep at Flintridge. The Rebels are now 5-3 overall.

Leslie Takasvi had 14 points for the winners. B.J. Hoettner had six to lead Flintridge.

Buckley 25, Faith Baptist 22

Ariana Lallone rebounded her missed free throw and put in the deciding basket to help Buckley reach the .500 level for the season with a win over Faith Baptist. Buckely is 4-4.

Faith Baptist had just made it, 23-22, with 12 seconds left before Lallone was fouled. Lallone, who had 11 points and 14 rebounds for the game, was fouled, missed the shot but got the rebound and scored.

Holy Family 44, Mission San Gabriel 10

Holy Family shut out Mission San Gabriel, 14-0, in the first quarter, and went on to a rout in an Horizon League game. A pressing defense forced 20 turnovers and made the Gaels easy winners.

Jessica Palma, Anna Araullo and Leiani Osugi each scored 10 points for the Gaels, 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the league.

La Reina 56, St. Bonaventure 53

La Reina High held off St. Bonaventure to win its first in the Tri-Valley League. The winners are 4-6 overall. La Reina led by 12 early in the fourth quarter and held on. Allison Dynda scored 14 for La Reina. St. Bonaventure is 1-1 in league, 2-7 overall.
