Moorpark 62, Carpinteria 59 Two clutch free throws each by Mike Litel and Mike Patrick in the final minute enabled host Moorpark High to eke out a win over Carpinteria.
The game was played at Moorpark college.
Moorpark had an 11-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors came back behind the shooting of 6-6 junior Jarrett Garcia, who had 25 points in the game, 10 in the fourth quarter.
Litel hit his free throws to put Moorpark ahead 60-59, and with only six second remaining, Patrick sank the last hopes of Carpinteria along with his two free throws.
Patrick, a 6-2 senior, finished with 25 points. He had six assists and five rebounds as well.
Jeff Magill scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Moorpark, and teammate Litel had 10 points.
The Musketeers upped their Tri-Valley League record to 4-1. They are 8-7 overall.
Carpinteria fell to 1-4 in league and 5-8 overall.
