Cheerleaders from Los Alamitos High School, using extensive choreography in a routine featuring a triple pyramid, on Sunday won the National High School Cheerleading Championships at Sea World in Orlando, Fla.
The 18-member Los Alamitos squad did “one heck of a routine,” with music from the movie “Ghostbusters,” competition spokesman Butch Alford said.
Second place went to a Mississippi team, while Santa Ana’s Mater Dei High School came in third. A panel of eight judges, all with college or professional cheerleading experience, considered 37 squads from 17 states in the competition.
