The top coach, Ernie Carr, used his concept of team play to guide the Dons (23-5) to the 4-A finals, where they lost to Glendale.
In the Southeast area, Kevin Kurz of Schurr (28 points a game) was named Player of the Year and Charlie LaCommare, who took lightly regarded Bell Gardens to the playoffs, was named Coach of the Year.
