UCI traveled to Loyola Marymount without their regular Nos. 4 and 5 players, Haruko Shigekawa and Dina Trenwith, who were ill. But the Anteaters hardly noticed their absence against the Lions as Kim Giordanella, Marguerite Laccabue and Libby Despot didn’t lose a single game in the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles matches.

Irvine plays its next match at home against one of the best Division 2 teams in the country, Cal Poly Pomona, at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
