Trials Open Today for U.S. Basketball Team

The United States Amateur Basketball Assn. begins trials today to select players for the West Regional women’s team that will compete in the National Sports Festival at Baton Rouge, La., July 21-Aug. 1.
More than 150 high school and college players will be trying to earn a spot on the West team during the trials that start today and end Sunday at UCLA. Those selected will have the opportunity to compete for the United States in the World University Games at Kobe, Japan, Aug. 24-Sept. 4.
