Peter DeArmas of Marina del Rey, a senior left wing in hockey for the State University of New York at Pittsburgh, has been named a NCAA Division III All-American by a vote of the American Hockey Coaches Assn.

DeArmas scored 34 goals and added 42 assists for Plattsburgh State, which finished fourth in the Division III national championships in March and was 26-9 overall. He is the school’s career leader in scoring with 95 goals and in assists with 113.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph DeArmas.

Pepperdine sophomore pitcher Mike Fetters, selected as a pre-season All-American by Collegiate Baseball Federation team of college players that will represent the United States in international competition.

Fetters, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, will be playing for the national team in tournaments in Japan and Korea, in the Intercontinental Cup in Edmonton, Alberta, and in exhibition games in the United States.

Jamie Dudley, point guard for the Pacific Palisades Junior Basketball League’s all-star team of 14-year-old boys, was named the most valuable player of the Golden State Basketball Tournament as he led his team to the tournament championship.

Other all-tourney selections from Palisades were center Paul Garrett and guard Errol Smith, and forward Evan Hockman, most inspirational player.

Tournament coaching honors went to the Palisades trio of Rich Bassler, Herb Furth and Chris McNairy .

Raechel Donahue, news director of radio station KIIS-FM and a Westside resident, is among the entrants in the pro-celebrity race in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, which will be held Friday through Sunday on that city’s streets. Donahue will be vying for a share of the race’s $50,000 purse.
