Titans Beat ASU Twice in Softball
Cal State Fullerton softball team, ranked No. 1 in the nation, swept a doubleheader Friday from No. 5 Arizona State, 1-0 and 3-0, in a Western Collegiate Athletic Assn. game at Titan Field softball complex.
In the first game, Debbie Mygind (16-1) pitched her 12th shutout, recording six strikeouts and allowing just three hits.
The Titans’ (4-0, 33-4) only run was unearned, coming after Maridee Richards reached base on an error by the Sun Devil third baseman. Richards eventually scored on another error, this time by the Arizona State right fielder.
In the second game, Sue LeFebvre (15-3) pitched her ninth shutout of the season and got a little more offensive support as the Titans scored twice in the fifth on four hits.
